Frequently asked questions.

Are mental health retreats worth it?

Mental health retreats can be worth it for many individuals, depending on their specific needs, the quality of the retreat, and the outcomes they seek.

Potential Benefits

  1. Focused Environment:

    • Dedicated Time and Space: Retreats offer a dedicated time and space away from daily stressors, allowing individuals to focus solely on their mental health.

    • Supportive Atmosphere: Being surrounded by professionals and peers who are also focused on mental health can create a supportive and understanding environment.

  2. Professional Guidance:

    • Expert Support: Our retreats provide access to mental health professionals, such as therapists, counselors, and wellness coaches, offering specialized care and support.

    • Structured Programs: Retreats often have structured programs that include therapy sessions, workshops, and activities designed to improve mental health.

  3. Holistic Approach:

    • Complementary Therapies: Many of our retreats incorporate complementary therapies such as yoga, meditation, art therapy, and nature walks, promoting overall well-being.

    • Healthy Lifestyle: Emphasis on nutrition, exercise, and mindfulness can help establish healthy habits.

  4. Break from Routine:

    • Mental Reset: A change of scenery and routine can provide a mental reset, helping individuals gain new perspectives on their issues.

    • Stress Reduction: Being in a peaceful, often nature-oriented setting can significantly reduce stress levels.

So, what is a Retreat like?

All of our retreats will be experiential and in nature. You will get as little or as much as you want out of our retreats. The goal is to provide time for self-care, connection and rejuvenation. We all need time and space to clear our minds. All of our retreats will be designed for connection and to promote healing and overall wellbeing.

We will start each retreat with a meet and greet followed by a welcome dinner. After dinner, we will be settling into our rooms and getting to know each other.

The following day, we will gather and discuss our goals and expectations for the retreat.  We will discuss coping strategies and give you the tools that you need for your toolbox. Some of our retreats involve journaling and soft "suggestions".  Everything is optional as we want everyone to get exactly what they need from our retreats. We will gather together in small groups to discuss certain topics and to process. We will end each day with plenty of time for fun, reflection, relaxation and connection.  You may want to hang out by the firepit or read a book...

These are wellness retreats so sometimes retreats open up "big" feelings and a lot of stuff comes to the surface.  This can be very therapeutic and healing to work on in our small groups.

However, if you are there to focus on something particular, please feel free to let Kimberly know and she will gladly give you some ideas for your stay to promote healing.

What are some examples of a retreat?

Our first retreat in 2023 was focused on wellness and Women’s Self-care which included yoga, massages, artwork, journaling, walking, relaxation and connection.  Our 2023 fall retreat was focused on Couples intimacy and connection. 2024 retreats are focused on couples, women’s wellness, overthinking and other therapeutic work.

Are all the retreats the same?

Each of the retreats will look different and will be in different locations. However, they are all experiential and healing. Activities available at the retreats will be based upon location. For more information regarding the retreats and upcoming events like and follow our Facebook page.

What’s included in a retreat?

All retreats will include drinks, snacks, meals and lodging unless specified otherwise. Usually there is one meal on your own if we leave the retreat.

Travel expenses are not included.

We offer payment plans to accommodate everyone’s budget. We try to keep our costs as low as possible.

Are these Christian retreats?

Yes and no. My Women’s wellness retreat is Faith Based. It’s for Christian, Religious, or Spiritual women, women who are on a different journey with their faith, women who are trying to figure out their path, women who believe in God or a higher power but want nothing to do with a specific religion. This is a wellness retreat where we will be focused on women’s wellness, however, I am a Christian woman and I love Jesus! I believe that Christianity and Therapy work well together, but we will not be preaching or studying the bible.

Women’s wellness retreats are a great place to decompress and allow yourself to recenter. As a Christian woman, this often means prayer and meditation for me. For someone else that may mean time alone to journal or time in nature. The focus of this retreat will be women’s wellness.

Our retreats are not specific for Christians. Some people consider themselves more spiritual. Serenity Nature Retreats welcomes everyone!

Our retreats highlight the importance of getting back to nature and I always feel closest to God outside in his creation!

Please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions or call to see if we are a good fit.

Why out in nature?

There is nothing more healing to the eyes, the brain, and the body than being out in nature. It is our opportunity to let go of stress and worries that we face day to day, and to relax and breath in peace and calm. What better "medicine" than a quiet walk in the woods. The smell of fresh air, and a mild breeze to soothe your soul, or to sit by a warm firepit gazing at the night sky.

Am I allowed to bring my spouse/significant other /friend to the retreat?

Yes, you may bring your spouse / significant other / friend if you have booked a private room with an additional upcharge of $250.

Are payment plans available?

Yes, we are offering payment plans for the retreats in four or six monthly payments after the initial down payment which is required when reserve your spot. However, you can request to pay in full.

What airport do I fly into?

For the Women’s retreat, the closest airport is Chattanooga, Tennessee.

(This is approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes from the retreat, you would need to rent a car instead of relying on Uber.)

For the Couple’s retreat and our Overthinker’s retreat you would fly to Knoxville, Tennessee airport.

What is your loyalty program?

All returning guests will receive $100 off any future retreat!

Can I drink alcohol?

Yes, it is fine to drink alcohol at the end of the day after our group sessions. We want everyone to be able to relax and have a good time, as long as no one abuses this we will allow drinking. We will also offer future retreats with zero alcohol for our guests who choose to avoid alcohol.
